Digital Mammography

We know you are busy and have trouble finding time to take care of yourself. That’s why we now offer screening mammography in the privacy and convenience of our office. Our facility is FDA approved and ACR accredited and we have state-of-the-art digital technology. Your mammogram will always be performed by a registered and licensed technologist, and all images are read by board-certified radiologists.

Who Should Have a Mammogram?
The American College of OB-Gyn recommends an annual mammogram at age 40, or sooner if you have a family history of breast or other cancers. Regular breast self-exams and an annual clinical exam performed by your doctor also aid in early detection.

Screening Mammogram
If any of the following criteria apply, you may not be eligible for a screening mammogram and should discuss your mammogram with your physician as soon as possible:

  • Have had breast cancer
  • Currently have symptoms of breast problems, e.g., lumps (breast pain is okay)
  • Are having a follow-up of a recent abnormal mammogram

Please note, your insurance may provide different coverage for a screening mammogram than a diagnostic mammogram.

Scheduling Your Mammogram
You may schedule your mammogram by calling our office at 804-320-2483.

If this is your first visit to our office for a mammogram, please have any prior films sent to us in advance of your exam.

  • Try to schedule your mammogram for immediately after your menstrual cycle so you will not experience breast tenderness that can occur at other times during your cycle.
  • Please verify coverage with your insurance provider. Copayment is required at time of service.
